Nitrous oxide is a colorless gas used for sedation and pain relief. As you inhale it, your body’s reaction time slows down and gives you a calm, euphoric feeling. For this reason, nitrous oxide is also known as laughing gas. It’s a fast-working sedative, and the effects quickly wear off once you stop inhaling it.

To take nitrous oxide, we will place a mask over your nose that will release the substance for you to inhale. It’s often combined with oxygen to help clear the remaining gas from your body to regain alertness after the procedure. We control how much sedation you need based on our vitals, and you should be able to drive yourself home after the procedure.
